WorldSkills Americas update

The first ever WorldSkills Americas will be held from March 8-14 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The countdown has begun to receive the 620 Competitors from 12 American countries/regions, and 160 international Experts and Chief Experts from 19 countries/regions covering several continents.

WorldSkills Americas is the first regional competition to cover all the Americas.

The event – which will be held at the same time as the Olimpíada do Conhecimento 2010 (the 2010 Brazil Skills Competition) – is organised by SENAI and will take place in Riocentro, one of Latin America’s premiere convention centres.

Riocentro is located in Barra da Tijuca, economically the fastest growing region of Rio de Janeiro. Dignitaries including Rio de Janeiro State Governor Sérgio Cabral and the Brazilian Republic President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, are expected to visit the competition.

More than 230,000 visitors are expected.
