The largest WorldSkills Competition in history begins

After a spectacular Opening Ceremony last night, the first day of Competition for WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 was marked with a ribbon cutting hosted by Overall Event Presenter and Global Premium Partner, Samsung. 

During the four days of the Competition, more than 200,000 visitors are expected to visit Anhembi Park to watch the talented 1,190 Competitors, representing 59 countries and regions, competing in 50 skills. Skills on display include construction, manufacturing, creative arts, information technology, transportation, service, and agricultural sectors.

Simon Bartley, President of WorldSkills noted the exemplary commitment demonstrated by Samsung in supporting the WorldSkills movement and bringing the world’s largest vocational education and skills excellence Competition to Brazil. “Samsung has an amazing history of supporting skill development in colleges, industry, communities, and countries across the world,” noted Bartley. 

The power of skills to bring together partners from across the world was reflected in the enthusiastic launch of the four day Competition. Representatives of the Korean National Assembly, Samsung, SENAI, and WorldSkills marked the opening of the Competition.

WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 is the first time the WorldSkills flagship event has been hosted in Latin America.
