Competition Preparation Week a resounding success

By Sally Eley, WorldSkills International

Stefan Praschl (interim) Chair of the Technical Committee wrapped up Competition Preparation Week (CPW) by thanking all the delegates for their contribution to making the week a resounding success. He extended his thanks to the WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 (WSL2013) team for organizing a superb event.

Chief Experts, Deputy Chief Experts, Workshop Supervisors, Technical Delegates and Technical Delegate Assistants eventually left Leipzig after the four day event despite the adverse weather causing delays to many flights.

Jane Stokie, Technical Director at WorldSkills International said that the results of the week had far exceeded the objectives set.

“I am delighted with the way this week has unfolded. The format of the agenda worked really well and there was a very relaxed atmosphere of co-operation with clarity to achieve the end goals. The feedback we have received has been great and from a technical perspective we are on track for delivering a successful Competition.

This week has also been particularly useful for our German hosts to enable them to check their planning is aligned with the needs of the individual skill competitions, particularly in relation to the infrastructure, workshop layouts and equipment needed for the Competition."

Hubert Romer, CEO of WSL2013 said he was very satisfied with the CPW:

“Of course, the Competition has a very different dimension. However, for us as the Organizing Committee, CPW was a rehearsal and the last big milestone before the event in July.”
