wsa2012_oc_lula_3_cropped_resized.jpgThe WorldSkills Leaders Forum (WSLF) is the premiere WorldSkills networking event during the WorldSkills Competition. It brings together leaders from government, industry, and education to address global skills issues. The WSLF develops the power of WorldSkills’ global network to meet the needs of industry, commerce and those who train individuals to the mutual benefit of all participants.

We are very excited to announce that Former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Lula) will give the keynote address during the WorldSkills Leaders Forum 2013 on 4 July in Leipzig, Germany as part of the 42nd WorldSkills Competition.

The theme of the WSLF is Our Youth – Our Future and the keynote address will be focused the best strategy to make the social and economic transformation through the VET process and skill competitions, the role and value of skill competitions in the skill development of Brazil and how to embed them in the skills development activities of the country. He will touch on the cross border training and opportunities and how important the global mobile workforce is to building a successful world economy. He has a lot of expertise and experience in sharing best practices and working with different regions of the world, especially South and Central America and Africa to increase the skills standards through on the ground knowledge and training practices.

Brazil’s economy and workforce has come a long way in a relatively short amount of time, Lula will talk about Brazil’s strategy regarding the use of skills competitions to promote careers in the skills, trades and technologies sectors and increasing the students skills to a level of global excellence.
