New WorldSkills Learning Community launched

By Michelle Turpin, WorldSkills International

With the membership of WorldSkills International spread across the globe, finding ways to connect, share information and support learning for people involved with Competition delivery can be tricky. This is, however, the age where we can do virtually anything… well… virtually! WorldSkills International (WSI) embraces innovation and adopts evolving technologies, and as a result, we have unveiled our latest in Member outreach. All WSI Learning Resources can now be found online, complete with information, guides, scenario learning and everyone's favourite… tests and quizzes!

Anyone involved with a Competition must know many different things – from Competition Rules, to roles and responsibilities of many different groups and all of this can now be found on the WSI Learning Resources site.

All Experts must complete industry specific tests, work through scenarios, and can now do it with ease – logging on through the WorldSkills International Expert Centre takes people to this online Learning Resources site. "We are happy to report that we now have learning resources organized and accessible using an e-learning platform called ‘Moodle’ for all registered personnel involved with delivering WorldSkills Competitions" commented WSI Technical Director, Jane Stokie.

She continued: "This will enable us to get the required and relevant information to our Experts, Technical Delegates, Team Leaders, Competitors, and Workshop Supervisors… all of the people who are committed to making the WorldSkills Competitions so outstanding".

The launch of the Learning Resources site works towards achieving one of the WSI Action Plan 2012–2015 goals, that is to offer professional development by using e-learning and ensuring that it is accessible to all people involved in a WorldSkills Competition.
