Polymechanics/Automation

Skill explained

Polytechnicians produce work pieces, manufacture tools and appliances for the production process, or assemble devices, appliances, machines or facilities. In collaboration with other professionals it is their job to deal with orders and projects, to develop solutions for facilities and to issue technical documents or build prototypes and carry out experiments. Polytechnicians contribute to startup operations, schedule and monitor production processes or perform maintenance on facilities. Single steps such as the assembly of mechanic, pneumatic, electric, and electro-pneumatic elements belong to the manifold tasks of the Polytechnician during the assembly of modules, machines or automated systems. They plan and organize the installation process and the final inspection. They also provide the necessary assembly tools, facilities, testing and measuring instruments and install the workplace for this purpose.

Troubleshooting, Overhauling, and Performing Maintenance

If malfunctions occur on machines or facilities or maintenance work is scheduled, it is the polytechnicians duty to perform these tasks. With the aid of maintenance instructions and the electric, pneumatic and hydraulic construction plans of the machine they check the individual functions on the machine. Malfunctioning modules and parts are repaired or replaced by new ones.
