Five halls with glass walls

glass_hall_250w.jpgThe venue housing WorldSkills Leipzig 2013, is impressive in its own right. The Leipziger Messe exhibition grounds features five connected exhibition halls, each with a usable space of 20,500 square metres, in addition to 70,000 square metres of open area and the Congress Center Leipzig (CCL).

One of the halls, known as the Glass Hall is simply a masterpiece. This massive structure is domed and transparent; the largest of its kind in Europe. To give an idea of the scale, one of the exhibits in the Glass Hall has parked a transport truck on the main level, and it appears comparatively small. There are mature trees growing on the ground level, yet the tops of the trees don't even come close to reaching the height of the dome.

This is the first time the entire exhibition space at the Leipziger Messe has been used for a single event. With over 200,000 visitors expected to visit the competition site, this is a true testament of the enormity of the 42nd WorldSkills Competition and this spectacular venue.
