The Joy of Skills! - Taitaja2013 Finnish National Skills Competition

The Finnish National Skills Competition Taitaja is the biggest annual event for vocational students in Finland. In 2013, it happened in Joensuu Areena from 14-16 May. Approximately 35,000 people were expected to visit the event.

There were 500 students competing in the competition of the Taitaja-event. The audience followed the competition of vocational students and thus familiarized themselves with the different career and education options. In this event, firms met the young talents, who may become their future employees, and the young people received support for their choice of a career. The theme of the event was “The joy of skills!”.

In the Finnish National Skills Competition 400 young people from 40 competition categories competed for the Finnish championships in their own areas. At the same time the TaitajaPLUS competition for students with special needs and Taitaja9 competition were held where 100 ninth graders of upper comprehensive schools competed in craftsmanship. Taitaja2013 event in Joensuu was arranged by the North Karelia Municipal Education and Training Consortium with its cooperation partners.
