WorldSkills Foundation
2011-2019
The WorldSkills Foundation (WSF) was established in 2011 to use the skills and expertise from WorldSkills Competitions beyond the event.
It created a global network of WorldSkills Champions and Experts who would contribute their energy and efforts to projects to improve lives around the world.

Making an impact
Each project was run with highly skilled professionals, supported by strategic global partnerships, to achieve WorldSkills’ vision of improving our world with the power of skills.
During this time WSF worked with governments, NGOs, Global Partners, and educational institutions to tackle issues that ranged from public health and sanitation, to innovative and engaging training methods and research for vocational excellence, all with the objective of improving the lives of global communities through skills.
The work of the WSF brought new partnerships and areas of collaboration that translated into more value and benefits for all the stakeholders of WorldSkills. With the support of Global Founding Partners and project partners, WSF was able to take financial and in-kind resources to create innovative and impactful projects that helped change lives around the world.

Green Industrial Skills for Sustainable Development

A one-day conference defining green skills, practices, and technology.
Sanitation Studios
2013
Developing design processes and construction methods to improve living environments and people's health.
Water Innovation Challenge

Designing and producing innovative plumbing and sanitation solutions for the communities in Nepal and Bangladesh.
National Skills Competition Côte d'Ivoire
2014
Helping Côte d'Ivoire to organize its first National Skills Competition.

Restoring and upgrading the washing and toilet facilities at a municipal school in Nashik, India.

The future
The experiences and stories of the WSF projects established a strong foundation for the kind of work and partnerships that are crucial for WorldSkills to deliver value to our stakeholders and achieve our mission and vision.
When WSF began, its remit covered projects related to all non-competition areas and opportunities, while WSI focused on competitions. In 2014 WorldSkills adopted a new Vision, Mission, and Position which organised its work into six focus areas: Skills Competitions, Career Building, Education and Training, International Cooperation and Development, Promoting Skills, and Research. As part of this evolution, the work of WSF was brought under a single organization, WorldSkills International.
WorldSkills will continue to develop projects and partnerships that will have a positive impact on our world in ways that allow us to utilize available resources more effectively and demonstrate the value of our organization to existing and potential partners.
